Montego Bay’s Cornwall College, the self-styled original CC, cooled fellow daCosta Cup high-flyers Clarendon College 4-2 in a hotly contested first ISSA-FLOW Super Cup semi-final at Sabina Park yesterday to reach next Saturday’s final. The match was a thrilling encounter highlighted by sharp-shooting forward Jourdaine Fletcher, whose hat-trick secured a famous win for Cornwall. He got his goals in the 59th (penalty), 62nd and 89th minutes. Aiden Jokomba had scored the opening goal for Cornwall. With yesterday’s three-timer, Fletcher took his FLOW Super Cup tally to seven and he promised fireworks in the final.”Today is my best game. I was waiting on this match a while and I just executed. We are the original ‘CC’, and we will give 100 per cent in the final,” he told The Sunday Gleaner. He added that beating Clarendon gave him a great feeling.”Words can’t explain how I am feeling right now. I am feeling very great. We played to the game plan, and that’s what coach had asked the team. I have a lot more goals to come and I want to go past 30 in the season,” the clinical forward added.Clarendon’s scorers were Shemar Hunter, who scored with a long-range strike to draw his team level inside the 36th minute, while captain Creggton Charlton slammed home a brilliant free kick from 20 yards in the 40th minute to register his fifth Super Cup goal.FLETCHER IN TOP FORMCornwall, with their star man Fletcher in top form, dominated the second half with their crisp short-passing and rapid counter-attacks. Fletcher with his deft body swerves proved difficult to handle.Tempers also flared during the half and a number of yellow cards were issued as players clashed on the field.Cornwall’s coach, Dr Dean Weatherly, called it a very big win for his unbeaten team.”It was a very, very big win, considering we are in a final, and it shows how hard we are working and everything is coming to the fore now. We said we are champions and you have to behave like champions,” he said. The coach and management team of Clarendon College declined to comment.
