As clocks turn back, Peace Region and Fort Nelson align with Alberta’s time

first_imgAs Alberta goes off of Daylight Savings Time, Fort St. John will be on the same time as Calgary – in the Mountain Standard Time Zone.When Daylight Savings comes back just before next Spring, we go onto the same time as Vancouver and the rest of BC springs forward. On Sunday, November 1st, Daylight Savings Time comes to an end and the time will be changing in many different places, but not here in the Peace Region.Communities in the Peace Region don’t observe Daylight Savings Time, and remain on Mountain Standard Time.Fort Nelson joined them this year, and is staying on MST year-round, as well.- Advertisement -Randy McLean, City Manager for the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality said they had a plebiscite during the last municipal election in November 2014.“During that time, over 75% of the community voted in favour of staying on permanent daylight savings time rather than switching back and forth,” he said.As time changes in many places, things can get confusing when the rest of Canada remains on Daylight Standard Time and constantly shift back and forth between hours.Advertisementlast_img read more
