iPad 3 event on March 7 Retina display and quadcore A6

first_imgWhen you’re (almost certainly) in the final month before an iPad announcement, it’s hard to go more than a day or two without hearing new leaks and rumors. That trend continues today, with a report that gives us some of the most specific info we’ve heard about the next-gen tablet. The iPad 3 will reportedly be revealed at an event on March 7. As expected by nearly everyone, it will also reportedly sport a 2048×1536 Retina display, and an Apple A6 system-on-a-chip. Though previous leaks have butted heads on how many cores that chip will have, this report is confident that it will indeed be a quad-core SoC. The report adds that the iPad 3 might have 4G LTE capabilities. If the leaks that we’ve heard in the last couple of weeks are legit, then Apple’s ability to conceal its products’ features isn’t in top form. Unlike last summer’s iPhone rumors — which were all over the place — the iPad 3 leaks have painted a fairly consistent picture. Nearly all of them predict a Retina display and an A6 chip, several have spoken of a bigger battery (largely to help compensate for the extra power that the display will use), and most of them agree that its exterior will look almost exactly like that of the iPad 2.If the March 7 event holds true, then that would be consistent with a report from last week that the tablet would be announced during the first week of March. Going by Apple’s recent history, this could have the release of the tablet landing on or around March 16.Even if the exterior of the next iPad remains largely unchanged, the Retina Display should truly be something to behold. Even slight bumps in resolution can enhance a device; doubling the amount of pixels can provide for an experience that is nothing short of breathtaking. If this report is accurate, you’ll only have three and a half weeks until you find out.via iMorelast_img read more
